Hymn for Hekate and Hermes

Standing at the crossroads
Questions running through my mind
Seeking her wisdom
For the answers I can’t find
The warmth of her presence
With me as I stand before these two fires
Serpents sibilance, severing the space between
The flames, bring perfect stillness to that space.
A sacral thrumming grasps my core
Rises up along the spinal column and brings a flame to match the heat of sacred fires.
This flame transforms, transports to serpentine indwelling souls,
Who rise divine to spring singing your praise from my open mouth.
Golden Praise and swift feet circling
Exultation from One who is found blessed and victorious,
Favoured with your Providence
Fertile are my thoughts and deeds.
Fortunate are we who find ourselves received by you
At the close of one path and the opening of another.
We stand eternally at the crossroads
Each choice a step onto a new path
Action is worship, worship of life
Honouring words with deeds and remembering
Even stillness and silence is a choice.
Hermes at the boundary, guide to all travellers
Hekate’s torches reflecting from our eyes.
Hekate in Hermes, Hermes in Hekate complete in union, luminous in manifestation

Kourotrophos Hermekate you nurture the seedlings to grow and young life to root
Enodia Hermekate all paths belong to you and you lead my way
Angelos Hermekate embrace me with your wings and deliver me from ignorance
Chthonia Hermekate you grant safe passage and new life to my soul.
You stand as an unaffected guide.                                                                                                     Showing only the options without judging their value.                                                                      May we also judge our circumstances with a cool and even temperament that reflects wisdom and not haste.                                                                                                                                     Soteira, teach us to forgive ourselves for bad choices and remind us that tomorrow is another day.                                                                                                                                                                 Of course we are reminded to use the light you offer in our dealings and we always have the ability to change things.

We stand eternally at the crossroads
Each choice a step onto a new path
Action is worship, worship of life
Honouring words with deeds and remembering
Even stillness and silence is a choice.
Hermes at the boundary, guide to all travellers
Hekate’s torches reflecting from our eyes.
The bond that was forged in the sacred flames
The fire that burns within our souls,
Great sentinels and gardians at the threshold in which we trust
Bare witness to our words and deeds
May our virtues always be honourable?
Protect and guide us as we walk the sacred path within the web of life
Wrap your saffron coloured cloak tightly around your followers,
Bless us, and we shall honour you.
Hail Hekate, we are true, we believe and trust in you.
May your blessings and guidance see us through the long dark nights,
Whilst we weave our web and walk in light.
As the dogs howl and the dark night falls. The moon is shining bright,
We walk fearless and free, because we have our trust in thee.
Our heads held high
As we feel you nigh
Your presence with us always
Our Lady of the many ways.
